Players Club Of Swarthmore Presents LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
Just in time for Valentine's Day, The Players Club of Swarthmore presents the botanical, sci-fi, musical comedy love story Little Shop of Horrors, Feb. 9-24, for 10 performances on the PCS Main Stage at 614 Fairview Ave., Swarthmore. A rock and roll musical comedy, Little Shop of Horrors takes place in a florist shop owned by Mr. Mushnik (Sean Murray, Phoenixville). His meek floral assistant Seymour (Justin Caiazzo, Plymouth Meeting) discovers an exotic plant from outer space with a craving for human flesh. Seymour names the plant Audrey II (Abrham Bogale, Philadelphia) after his coworker crush Audrey (Rachel Hendrickson, Collegeville). Over time, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out-of-this-world origins and intent towards global domination.
Rounding out the cast is David Gregory (Norristown) as Orin Scrivello D.D.S. and Dana Corvino (Philadelphia), Liz Iannacci (Media), Neil Kirschling (Wilimington, Del.), Kat Lemon (Springfield), and Rachel Medori (Media) as The Urchins. Amelia SanFilippo (Springfield) is the puppeteer. The team of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid) wrote the music, including "Downtown," Feed Me," "and "Little Shop of Horrors."
Little Shop of Horrors runs from Friday, Feb. 9, through Saturday, Feb. 24. Thursday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Also, audiences can meet the artists in a talkback discussion after the Feb. 18 performance.
