Oddball Romantic Comedy Opens Hanover Little Theatre's 70th Season Image

Sara Hastings is an unmarried lawyer in her mid-thirties, much too busy to get involved in romance. Her Aunt Martha has decided to take matters into her own hands and find her a husband in the Sam Bobrick comedy Getting Sara Married, the opening show in Hanover Little Theatre's 70th season.

Aunt Martha's choice is Brandon Cates, a young man who handles Aunt Martha's finances. Although Brandon is engaged to be married, this does not deter Aunt Martha from employing her very unusual method of matchmaking.

Tickets are on sale now for the show, directed by Douglas Cooper with Erin DiNello serving as assistant director. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Sept. 14-15 and 20-22. There will be 2 p.m. matinees on Sept. 16 and 23. Online ticket sales will be available around the clock. Members can reserve their seats today. You can also call 717-637-5297 to reserve tickets or take advantage of our box office hours: Saturday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m. to noon; Sunday, Sept. 2, noon to 2 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to noon; Sunday, Sept. 9, noon to 2 p.m.

Courtney McDougall (The MOMologues) will take the stage as Sara while Heidi Hormel (The Sensuous Senator) will play Aunt Martha. Three actors will make their HLT debuts as John Paul Lunn will play Brandon Cates, the man Aunt Martha wants Sara to pursue, Dave Bell will play Noogie Malloy, who does Aunt Martha's dirty work, and Dan Griffin will play Aunt Martha's chiropractor. Nikki Bull (The MOMologues) will round out the cast as Heather Boyd, Brandon's fiancee.

The nonprofit community partner for this show is Olivia's House - a Grief and Loss Center for Children. The theatre will donate $2 to Olivia's House for every ticket sold to the Saturday, Sept. 15, performance. Sommer & O'Donnell - Attorneys at Law, as well as an anonymous patron will match that donation, generating $6 for every person attending Sept. 15. Additionally, donations for Olivia's House will be accepted at all seven performances.

Since inaugurating this effort in November 2014, the theatre has donated more than $8,000 to a variety of local community organizations.
