Millersville University's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble to Play at Winter Center

Millersville University's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will present "Masterworks for the Wind Band" on November 15, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Winter Center, under the direction of Dr. Keith Wiley and Dr. Mark Yingling. Featured works for the Wind Ensemble will include Symphony No. 2 by John Barnes Chance and Second Suite in F by Gustav Holst. Student conductors Charles Richardson and Richard Ferrarelli will share conducting responsibilities for the Holst piece. The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville.

The Wind Ensemble is the premier concert ensemble of the MU band program and is comprised of the most accomplished woodwind, brass, and percussion players at Millersville University. This 40-member ensemble performs the finest wind band literature and is dedicated to the furtherance of wind band music as one of America's leading art forms. Dr. Keith Wiley is Wind Ensemble conductor, as well as trumpet instructor at MU, where he has been a member of the music faculty since 1984.

The Concert Band, comprised of approximately 50 wind and percussion players, performs a variety of quality literature including original wind band classics, transcriptions, and music from the jazz and popular genres. It is conducted by Dr. Mark Yingling, who is also a faculty member at Franklin and Marshall College.

Tickets are $10 general admission for each event and can be purchased online by visiting ArtsMU.com or by calling 717-871-7600. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Ticket Office located in the Student Memorial Center on Millersville's campus, or the Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street, in Lancaster. Doors open one hour before each show for ticket sales, subject to availability. MU Student & Visiting Student (any age, any level) tickets are free with a valid ID at a ticket office location or at the door.
