Hershey Area Playhouse to Open 14th Season with A FLEA IN HER EAR, 2/14-24

By:

Hershey Area Playhouse opens its 14th season with the classic French bedroom farce, A Flea in her Ear, February 14-17 and 21-24, 2013.

Adapted by David Ives from the original play written by George Feydeau in 1907, the farce centers on the sexual pairings and recombining of characters moving through improbable plots. Feydeau is probably the most famous playwright of bedroom farce, with his collection of coincidences, slamming doors, and ridiculous dialogue having delighted Parisian theatre audiences at the turn of the twentieth century and beyond.

"Feydeau was known to sit for hours at the famous Maxim's restaurant, watching and listening to people who he would transpose into his plays' characters. He placed his characters in a basic reality, preserving their true nature, and then after a comic exposition, would throw them into burlesque situations," said show director Marcie Warner.

A Flea in her Ear features Rob Kopko, Dana Kinsey, Keith Alcorn, John Messmer, Susan Wray Danowitz, Michael Kirby, John Mallonee, Ed Reazer, Marie De La Hoz, Michael Lazorcik, Colleen Mullikin, Valerie Schrader, Malcolm Cohen and Steve Dincau. The show is produced by Michele Robertson, assistant produced by Pam Rohrbach and stage managed by Chris Sapelli.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for students 12 and under. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.HersheyAreaPlayhouse.com or call the box office at 717.533.8525.
