GREASE to Play Gettysburg Community Theatre, 5/16-19
Gettysburg Community Theatre presents the 50's rock-n-roll musical GREASE May 16-19 at 7pm and May 18 and 19 at 2pm. Tickets are $11 reserved seating. Gettysburg Community Theatre is located at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg. "Four performances of our 5th-12th grade student production of GREASE quickly sold out and so we have added two more performances within the same week for the public", says Chad-Alan Carr, Founding Executive/Artistic Director of Gettysburg Community Theatre.
"The musical is always a hit with teens, but many adults also love it due to the popular movie which starred Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta," says Carr, "but our theatre received special permission to insert four of the great songs from the movie that were not part of the original Broadway musical play."
In this production of GREASE, audiences will enjoy the wonderful finale song "You're The One The I Want", as well as the title song made popular by Frankie Valli. The GCT production of GREASE is being directed by Hans Schroeder with music direction by Kyleigh Grim and choreography by Bridgid Wills and Chad-Alan Carr.
Wills, who was a 2002 graduate of Gettysburg Area High School and a 2008 graduate of UNC Greensboro, has been the champion of Gettyburg's Dancing With The Local Stars for the last two years. She has staged the big "Born To Handjive" number and "Summer Nights" for the GCT production of GREASE, with the other musical numbers staged by Carr.
"There are tickets now available for our added performances May 16 and 19 at 7pm, but the other performances of GREASE are sold out," Carr says, "so it looks like GREASE is STILL the word and is the one that people want!"
