Fulton Theatre Presents YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, Now thru 3/30
The 2013/2014 Season at the Fulton Theatre takes a decidedly madcap turn with its latest production, Mel Brooks new musical Young Frankenstein, based on his 1974 black and white comic masterpiece motion picture of the same name.
The musical adaptation of Young Frankenstein brings all the familiar, zany characters to life on stage, including a very large, very green monster. Audiences will laugh along to the classic duet of Dr. Frankenstein and his Monster "Puttin' on the Ritz," complete with a tap dancing chorus. And a simple hayride becomes a complete musical adventure where an entire village goes crazy... with dance! Young Frankenstein is an electrifyingly exciting, irreverently rollicking, satirically silly good time.
The Fulton Theatre's production, directed and choreographed by Fulton Artistic Director Marc Robin, promises to bring the hilarity of the film to the stage with a stellar cast of Broadway veterans. "We want this production to bring the heart of the movie onto the stage," says Robin. "And, we have the cast to do it. These people are really, REALLY funny."Jamison Stern (Broadway/National Tours: By Jeeves, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Little Shop of Horrors, Disney's Beauty and the Beast) leads the cast as young Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (it's pronounced "Fronkensteen"). Missy Dowse (Fulton: Mary Poppins; National Tour: Gypsy) plays his voluptuous lab assistant Inga, Ben Liebert (Broadway/National Tour: Wicked) plays his manservant Igor, and Jessica Lee Goldyn (Broadway: A Chorus Line; Fulton: A Chorus Line) plays his socialite fiancé Elizabeth.Young Frankenstein will run at the Fulton Theatre from today, March 11th through 30th. Official press opening is Thursday, March 13. Ticket prices start at $25 and are available through the Fulton Box Office at 717-397-7425 or online at www.thefulton.org.
