Photo Flash: First Look at The Shakespeare Players' MEASURE FOR MEASURE

Tomorrow night, Friday, April 12, The Shakespeare Players, a program of the Rochester Community Players, will open Measure For Measure. The show runs Friday thru Sunday this weekend, Thursday thru Sunday next weekend and Thursday thru Saturday April 25-27. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast below!

You can get a sample of the cast members singing "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" and "He's in the Jailhouse Now" on the YouTube channel, RocComPlaya. MuCCC Theater is at 142 Atlantic Avenue, three blocks from University Avenue and Atlantic.

The Shakespeare Players are transforming MuCCC Theater into a late 1920's speakeasy for this production. Step back in time to this forgotten time period where the higher laws tried to govern society until society found a way to let loose. Tickets are $19 general admission, $14 for seniors (over 65) and $9 for Juniors (under 25.) Tickets can be purchased online at MuCCC.org or by phone at 866-811-4111. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 8:00 PM, with LIVE MUSIC starting at 7:30. The Sunday matinees start at 2:00, with live music starting at 1:30. Shakespeare's comical morality tale is directed by Judy Molner, with original Music & Lyrics by Doug Waterman and a live jazz band.

Claudio (played by Carl Del Buono) finds out that he will be executed for having sex outside of marriage, unless his sister, Isabella (played by M. J. Savastano) agrees to sleep with the official who has passed this harsh judgment. Claudio is attempting to convince his sister to accept this loathsome bargain.

Erin Kate Howard: Duke Vincentio (played by Erin Kate Howard) goes into disguise to see how his edicts requiring strict observance of the laws against immorality are being followed.

Erin Kate Howard: Duke Vincentio (played by Erin Kate Howard) goes into disguise as a bell-ringing holiday Santa Claus to see how his edicts requiring strict observance of the laws against immorality are being followed. This production is staged in the Prohibition era, December, 1928.
