By:

Stop the presses! The award-winning Riverdale Rising Stars presents NEWSIES, the Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit, at the Riverdale YM-YWHA for a limited engagement of six performances beginning tonight, December 1, 2018, and continuing through Sunday, December 16, 2018.

Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, NEWSIES musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys expense, Jack and his fellow newsies take action and unionize. With help from a plucky reporter, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of the newsies.

Featuring young actors ages 12-18 from the Bronx, Yonkers, Upper Manhattan, and beyond, NEWSIES will be performed at the Riverdale YM-YWHA, located at 5625 Arlington Avenue (just off of Riverdale Avenue and West 256th Street), in Riverdale, Bronx, NY.

Advance tickets are $15 (students/seniors) and $20 (adults) and may be purchased online at www.riverdaley.org/boxoffice. Tickets will also be available at the door. All seats are reserved.
