Hoff-Barthelson's Faculty Will Perform in Musical Treasures Concert

Members of Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Faculty perform an eclectic mix of works for multiple pianos, voice, cello, violin and chamber ensembles in "Musical Treasures," on Friday, February 9, 2018, at 7:30 pm. The concert, the second of four presentations on the 2017-2018 Faculty Concert Series, takes place in the School's Behrens Bergman Auditorium, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale.

Audience members will be treated to performances by soprano Laura Green; pianists Hélène Jeanney, Benita Meshulam, Gerald Robbins and Eleonora Rotshteyn; violinist Gary Kosloski; and cellist Peter Seidenberg.

Included on the program are Bolcom's Garden of Eden, (Four Rags for Piano); Schubert's Der Hirt auf dem Felsen (Shepherd on the Rock), D. 965; Mozart's Sonata for Four Hands in D major, K. 381; Poulenc's Cello Sonata, PF 143; Ravel's Piano Trio in A minor; and the pièce de résistance, Rachmaninov's rarely heard Waltz and Romance for Six Hands in A Major. Written when the composer was just 17 to 18 years of age, these romantic-styled pieces for piano trio were dedicated to three friends and feature a short passage that would later be used in Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2, at the start of the 2nd movement.

Admission to the concert is $20, $15 for seniors (65+) and free of charge for students. Tickets can be reserved by calling 914-723-1169, or e-mailing hb@hbms.org. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Space is limited; reservations are encouraged. Program and performers subject to change.
