Trouble making reeds? Hoff-Barthelson Music School faculty members Elizabeth Condon (oboe) and Janet Grice (bassoon) will lead an intensive, hands-on workshop on the art of making reeds for the bassoon and oboe. Suitable for the beginner to the advanced student, the workshop will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 10 am to 12 noon at the School, 25 School Lane, Scarsdale. The workshop is free of charge and open to the public
While discussing the idiosyncrasies of the two instruments, participants will get practice in constructing, scraping, shaping and adjusting reeds to suit their needs. Reed tools are not required for the workshop.
Participants should bring their instruments as the last 45 minutes of the workshop will be spent playing together in a double reed ensemble.
