Franklin Stage Co Will Present Julian Fleisher & Circus Minimus

Franklin Stage Company will present a weekend packed with music and laughter, starting with a performance by NY cabaret sensation Julian Fleisher and His Rather Big Band on Friday, August 3rd at 7:30pm. A Saturday afternoon show follows at 2:00pm for Circus Minimus, a one-man circus in a suitcase, written and performed by Kevin O'Keefe. Saturday August 4th at 7:30m Fleisher takes the stage again, followed by an encore performance of Circus Minimus on Sunday Aug 5 at 3:00pm.

"August opens with a madcap weekend at FSC!" said FSC co-artistic directors Patricia Buckley and Leslie Noble. "We wanted to present a show that was fun, exciting, and appealed to all ages," continued Buckley. "When Julian's and Kevin's shows became available the same weekend, rather than choose between them, we knew we had to find a way to present both!"

Julian Fleisher, dubbed a "Manhattan nightclub supernova" by the LA Times, is a singer, bandleader, actor, and longtime associate of FSC. He returns to Chapel Hall with a set of songs and stories from the farthest reaches of the Great American Songbook. Backed by his barn-burning band, Fleisher will render a set of tunes featuring his trademark masterful interpretations of classics from Cole Porter to Prince and from the Beatles to Joni Mitchell. At once timeless and fresh, provocative and comforting, soaring and down-to-earth, a night of songs with Delaware County's own Julian Fleisher is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

From Kevin O'Keefe's suitcase, an entire circus emerges: tent, band, lights, the boisterous ringmaster, the shy usher, the incredible Bumbilini Family, and Keefer-an innocent trying to run away and join the circus. However, the most important performers in Circus Minimus emerge from the audience. Cincinnati Playhouse audiences "thoroughly enjoyed the lunacy of Circus Minimus.", said director of education, Bert Goldstein. "Mr. O'Keefe's gallery of wacky circus characters and antics made this fast-paced show a great deal of fun for both kids and adults." The show has been performed over 500 times around the globe, in theaters and schools alike; a delightful opportunity for audiences to participate in an enthralling, whimsical celebration of the imagination.

Showtimes for Julian Fleisher and His Rather Big Band are Friday, August 3th and Saturday August 4th at 7:30pm. Showtimes for Circus Minimus are Saturday, August 4th at 2:00pm and Sunday, August 5th at 3:00pm. Admission is free. (Donations gratefully accepted.)
