Bridge Street Theatre In Catskill Presents A Mini-Summer Arts Festival Next Month The "long" weekend kicks off with an exclusive screening of local filmmaker Peter Odabashian's OLD FRIENDS, a documentary about friendship, depression, falling in love, getting older, and finding happiness. Sixteen longtime friends share their joys, their pain, and all the ways in which they wound up making the filmmaker "the happiest depressed person in the world" in this nostalgic and touching tribute to everything that's really important in life. Friday, August 3rd at 7:30 pm, Bridge Street Theatre Mainstage, 44 West Bridge Street, Catskill, NY. All tickets are $10 and go on sale at the door one half hour prior to the screening, which will be followed by a talk-back with the director.

On Saturday evening August 4th, the immensely popular Bridge Street Belly Dance returns to Catskill with an auxiliary program called "Why I Dance", featuring California-based multi-faceted artist, Mira Betz. Ms. Betz has been teaching and performing traditional and contemporary forms of Middle Eastern dance for over 25 years. Her work has been instrumental in the emergence of a new style known around the world as Tribal Fusion, a dance rooted in tradition while forging new bonds between world dance and individuality. Through video projections, belly dance, and performance art, Mira and her colleagues Elsa Figueroa, Tessa Myers, Jaylee, Yoni Biyé, Francesca Avani, Yvonne Michelle, Brenna Crowley, Danielle Hutton, and The Lunachix dig deep in this vulnerable and unique fusion belly dance show, sharing what it is that gives them the impetus to dance. Bridge Street Theatre Mainstage, 44 West Bridge Street, Catskill, NY. Curtain is at 8:00pm. $22 advance tickets can be purchased at whyidance.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 800-838-3006. Tickets will also be available at the door one half hour prior to showtime on a space available basis for $25.

And in a rare Monday evening performance at 7:30pm on August 6th, internationally-renowned sitarist, tabla player, and vocalist Ustad Shafaat Khan returns to Bridge Street Theatre with another outstanding performance of Classical Indian Music. Those who experienced his November 2017 concert at BST will need no encouragement to hear this consummate artist at the height of his powers once again.

This time around (at our request) he will be performing a full concert of Indian classical music. This is a profound musical art form and Ustad Khan is a charming and articulate guide to understanding this age-old art form. Do yourself a favor and come bask in this profound, ancient, spiritual music. And as an added treat, your ticket price includes desserts provided by Rhinebeck's Cinnamon Restaurant.

Bridge Street Theatre Mainstage, 44 West Bridge Street, Catskill, NY. Curtain is at 7:30[m. Tickets are $20, $10 for Students ages 21 and under. Advance tickets can be purchased at khan.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 800-838-3006. Tickets will also be available at the door one half hour prior to showtime on a space available basis.
