Blackfriars Theatre's Closes 'Debbie Does Dallas,' 8/18

Blackfriars Theatre, a not-for-profit mid-sized professional theatre on Rochester's "Theatre Row" is pleased to announce the opening of "DEBBIE DOES DALLAS," a musical by Erica Schmidt and Andrew Sherman adapted by Erica Schmidt from the Film.

The most important theatrical event of the twenty-first century, Debbie Does Dallas is a modern morality tale told as a comic musical of tragic proportions in the language of the rodeo-porno-football circus. The show is the coming-of-age story of an all-American small-town sweetheart named Debbie Benton. Debbie is captain of her high-school cheerleading team, but she dreams of making it to the big time by becoming a Texas Cowgirl Cheerleader. When Debbie receives a letter telling her she has qualified for the professional squad, the only thing that stands between her and the realization of her dream is bus fare to the big city: Dallas. Debbie enlists her teammates, Lisa, Roberta, Donna and Tammy, to get full-time jobs after school and on weekends to help pay for her trip to Dallas. The girls form a company called Teen Services and get jobs, but they quickly realize minimum-wage jobs just don't pay enough. Luckily, Debbie's boss, Mr. Greenfelt, has an idea how the girls can raise enough money in time.

"DEBBIE DOES DALLAS" is Directed and Designed by John Haldoupis; Musical Direction by Mark Alan DeWaters; Movement by Meggins Kelley. Stage management is by Ted Plant.

Show times are: - Friday, July 30, August 6, 20 at 9 pm, Saturday, July 31, August 14, 21 at 9 pm, August 7 at 10 pm, Sunday, August 1, 3 pm, August 8, 7 pm, and Wednesday, August 11, 18 at 7:30 pm.

Blackfriars Theatre is located at 795 East Main Street, Just a few doors down from the Auditorium Theatre. There is parking available on site, and handicapped seating is available.
