Upcoming Artist Lauren Pelaia Will Narrate/Sing Live In BRIDESMAIDS: A DANCE NARRATIVE This August
Lauren Pelaia is an actress, singer/songwriter and composer originally from New Jersey. As an actress, she has appeared in Productions such as Two Star Motel (NYC Premiere, Halley), Little Shop of Horrors (Algonquin Arts Theatre, Crystal) and Grease (New Jersey Repertory Theatre, Sandy).
As a singer/songwriter, Lauren's music lies in the unique genre of theatrical pop which adds a cinematic and theatrical component to the classic structure of pop music. She has performed her original music at iconic venues such as Haswell Greens, The Bitter End, The Duplex and
many more.
Lauren has released an EP entitled March with Me, which debuted at The Bitter End.
Lauren has released two singles, Try to Love You and While We Have Tonight, which can be found on all music platforms. Most recently, she has begun writing for musical theatre!
Lauren composed a completely original score to the classic Thornton Wilder play, Our Town, for Villagers Theatre. She, alongside Quentin Madia, wrote an original song entitled, Employee of the Year, for the original play, Employee of the Month, that premiered at Dixon Place.
Lauren, along with her incredible writing partners, Quentin Madia and Alex Knezevic, is writing an original musical entitled, The Picher Project.
In development for almost a year now, The Picher Project has premiered a preview at Dixon Place and performed a reading at North Eastern Oklahoma College in Miami, Oklahoma.
The team will be heading to Maine this coming September to workshop their show through a residency with The Barn Arts Collective. On October 23 rd at 9:30 p.m., The Picher Project will be premiering a concert version of the show at
54 Below.
