About this camp
YMCA Camp Kern is a 485-acre camp in Oregonia, Ohio, operated by the YMCA of Greater Dayton and in continuous operation since 1910, making it one of the oldest YMCA camps in the United States. It offers overnight and day camps for children roughly ages 7 to 14, plus horse camps, specialty and theme camps, teen camps, seasonal camps and family camp weekends. Overnight campers are grouped into age-based villages - Frontier, Explorer, Adventure and Pioneer - and run Sunday through Friday, with a shorter Taste of Kern option for younger first-timers. Activities include horseback riding with a herd of more than 60 horses, a 55-foot climbing tower and two zip lines, canoeing, swimming, archery, creek exploration and more than five miles of hiking trails. Camp Kern also runs school outdoor education programs, group rentals and the Ozone Zipline Adventures course.
Overnight camp is organized into age-based villages: Frontier Village (ages 7-9), Taste of Kern partial-week option (ages 7-9), Explorer Village (ages 9-11), Adventure Village (ages 11-13), Pioneer Village (ages 13-14) and Kern F.C. soccer camp (ages 9-13). Add-ons include a Super-Weekend Stayover between consecutive weeks ($120), a one-hour trail ride ($30) and a half-day river rafting excursion ($30). Day camps, horse camps, specialty and theme camps, teen camps and family camps are also offered.
