About this camp
BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center runs a week-long acting camp and production for children ages 5 to 18 (five-year-olds must be enrolled in kindergarten) at 199 Chambers Street in Lower Manhattan. The camp is led by touring actor/directors from Missoula Children's Theatre, and every registrant is cast in the show; no prior experience or advance preparation is required. Casting happens in the opening session, the show is rehearsed across the week, and two public performances are staged on the final Saturday. Optional mid-week workshops cover acting, mime and improv. The April 2026 camp produced a musical adaptation of The Jungle Book; a Robin Hood camp is scheduled for February 16-20, 2027, with registration opening August 12, 2026.
Casting takes place in the first Monday morning session; rehearsals run mornings 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and afternoons 1:15-3:15 p.m. Monday-Thursday, with optional mid-week workshops in acting, mime and improv, a Friday dress rehearsal, and two public performances on Saturday.
