Summer Theatre Workshop for High School Students

The Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas at Austin hosts youth summer camps on the UT campus for students age 9 and older, alongside a Summer Institute for teachers and arts educators. In 2026 the department offered three week-long day camps. The Contemporary Dance Intensive: Creative Collaboration, for ages 13 to 17 (eighth through twelfth grade), covers contemporary and modern technique, phrase work, and collaborative choreography, ending in an informal performance. Two Exploring the Arts camps for ages 7 to 11 (second through fifth grade) use music, dance, theatre, and visual art around themes of superheroes and of wizards, knights, and princesses, each closing with an hour-long showcase for family and friends. No audition or portfolio is required for the Exploring the Arts camps. Tuition is $550 per camp, with UT affiliate discounts and a limited number of scholarships.

Registration for all three 2026 camps has concluded. Drop off 8:30-9:00am and pick up 3:30-4:00pm for the Exploring the Arts camps. Discounts are available for UT affiliates and a limited number of scholarships are offered.
