Theatre summer camp in Oakland, ME
Camp Manitou is a summer camp for boys ages 7 to 16 in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine, founded in 1947 and accredited by the American Camp Association. The program is deliberately well-rounded rather than specialized, combining sports, creative arts, waterfront and outdoor adventure activities such as wakeboarding, baseball, tennis, street hockey, mountain biking, archery and high ropes. Families choose between two half-summer sessions and a full seven-week season; full-season campers take an extended camp trip during the changeover between halves, and the camp reports more than 90 percent of them return. Prospective families can visit for a free one-day Fantasy Camp experience that includes activities, lunch, a tour and a boat ride on the lake. Manitou also hosts Visiting Day, a Little Brother Sleepover, off-season regional reunions and a winter teen leadership weekend. Somerset Camp for Girls and Camp Eastwood are its sister camps.
Half-session campers are grouped with others from the same session and grade. Full-season campers take an extended camp trip during the half-session changeover. Related events include the Little Bro Sleepover (July 16, 2027), Visiting Day (July 17, 2027) and free one-day Fantasy Camp visits.
