IU Midsummer Camp

Indiana University's Midsummer Theatre Camp is a three-week residential theatre and drama institute in Bloomington for high school students serious about studying theatre. Modeled on a summer stock experience, it combines classes and rehearsals leading to public performances - Chicago: Teen Edition for 2026 - with the cast also helping prepare technical elements of the production. Classes are taught by IU faculty, teaching assistants and professional guest artists, and the musical theatre track focuses on triple-threat training in acting, singing and dancing, including one-on-one coaching on audition material and college audition preparation. Enrollment is capped at 20 students. The 2026 session runs July 5-26 at $4,575 including housing and meals. The program is presented in partnership with Stages Bloomington.

Admission is limited to 20 students nationally. Applicants email a headshot and theatre resume to the program director, after which audition materials are sent; application review begins April 1 and continues until slots fill, and roles are cast on the first day of camp. Open to high school students completing grades 9-12 during the 2025-2026 school year. Presented in partnership with Stages Bloomington.
