About this camp
New Stage Theatre, Mississippi's professional regional theatre, runs two summer day camps at the Jane Reid-Petty Theatre Center in Jackson. First Stages is a two-week camp for rising 2nd through 6th graders offered in morning (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) and afternoon (1:30-4:30 p.m.) sessions, June 1-12, 2026, and costs $300 before May 1 or $350 after; campers study acting, improvisation, stage movement, musical theatre, dance, voice and diction, and auditioning, then perform a showcase for invited family and friends on the last day. The 2026 show is Madagascar KIDS. Broadway Jr. is a four-week full-day camp for rising 6th through graduating 12th graders, June 15-July 12, 2026, at $625 before May 1 or $675 after, adding master classes with theatre professionals and culminating in a fully produced musical on New Stage's main stage; the 2026 show is High School Musical, JR.
First Stages is open to rising 2nd through 6th graders; Broadway Jr. is open to rising 6th through graduating 12th graders. 2026 camp shows are Madagascar KIDS (First Stages) and High School Musical, JR. (Broadway Jr.). Full and partial scholarships based on talent and financial need are available for Broadway Jr. only; scholarship auditions were held Saturday, April 25, 2026 and require a monologue, essay and recommendation letter.
