Farwell for Girls

Camp Farwell is an overnight summer camp for girls ages 6 to 17 in Newbury, Vermont, founded in 1889 and described by the camp as the first girls' sleepaway camp in Vermont, New England and the United States. The camp occupies a 100-acre site on Halls Lake in the Green Mountains and offers a wide range of activities including horseback riding, water sports, music, dance, team pursuits and individual projects. Camp Farwell frames its program around three elements: friendship, community spirit and a warm family environment, with an emphasis on personal growth, self-confidence and appreciation for the natural surroundings. The camp has drawn returning campers, first-time campers and a returning staff for more than 120 summers.
