Camp Akeela

Camp Akeela is a coed overnight camp for neurodivergent children on 400 wooded acres on Miller Pond in Strafford, Vermont, with a mailing address in Thetford Center. Campers are roughly ages 9 to 17, having completed grades 3 through 10, and many have been diagnosed with ASD Level 1 (formerly Asperger's), NVLD, ADD or ADHD, though a formal diagnosis is not required for admission. The three-week sessions follow a traditional New England camp program, including arts, pool and lakefront aquatics, sailing, an outdoor adventure ropes course, non-competitive athletics and Dungeons & Dragons, while adding structured social-skills coaching from counselors. A high counselor-to-camper ratio and a small community are central to the model. Related programs include Beyond Akeela, a college-readiness program for 10th through 12th graders, and a one-week Family Camp in August. Akeela is ACA accredited.

Tuition is all-inclusive except baggage shipment and optional return transportation; one-way bus transportation from selected locations is provided at the start of each session.
