Woodward Avenue Productions Presents Cabaret IMMACULATE DEGENERATION, Now thru 8/22

By:

Woodward Avenue Productions presents Immaculate Degeneration as part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival – FringeNYC.

Immaculate Degeneration is a rock-n-roll one-woman cabaret about what it is to move through the world with an invisible disability. When a rebellious teen becomes vision impaired – leaving her unable to drive in the Motor City – she must set forth on a quest to find out just what it is to be not quite blind but no longer fully sighted. Composed from a collection of personal stories and original songs written by playwright and performer Pamela Sabaugh, Immaculate Degeneration is a humorous and uplifting coming-of-age journey that confronts issues of identity, independence, and the ongoing attempt to come to terms with and articulate just what it is to be somewhere "In Between."

Immaculate Degeneration is written and performed by Pamela Sabaugh – a vision-impaired writer, actor, and musician who has made numerous Off Broadway appearances – most recently as Portia in Theater Breaking Through Barriers' version of Shakespeare's A Merchant of Venice at Theater Row on 42nd St. Other theater, TV, and film credits include the title character in Brian Friel's Molly Sweeney at the Adrienne Theater in Philadelphia, recurring feature roles on the daytime dramas One Life to Live and Guiding Light, and the independent feature comedy Jackie Goldberg: Private Dick starring Jackie Mason. Immaculate Degeneration is directed by Fred Backus with sound design by Stephen Sabaugh.

Formed in 2000 by Detroit natives Pamela Sabaugh, Craig Bentley, and Frank Anthony Polito, Woodward Avenue Productions' previous theatrical offerings to FringeNYC include Pamela Sabaugh's Woman in the Animal Kingdom in 2000 – for which she won an award for Outstanding Performance – and Frank Anthony Polito's Another Day on Willow St, recipient of a 2007 Summer Theatre Festival Citation as Outstanding New Play from Talkin' Broadway.

The show will play Fringe Venue #17: The Huron Club, 15 Vandam St., between 6th Ave. and Varick St. according to the following schedule: Tonight, 8/11 at 8 PM, Sunday, 8/12 at 2 PM, Tuesday, 8/14 at 4 PM (with talkback afterwards), Saturday, 8/18 at 1:45 PM, Sunday, 8/19 at 7:00 PM and Wednesday, 8/22 at 4:30 PM.
