Tony Nominee Melissa Errico Comes to Bay Area Cabaret

Bay Area Cabaret concludes its 15th Anniversary Season with Tony-nominated Broadway singer and actress Melissa Errico in her Bay Area concert debut on Sunday, May 19 at 7:30 pm. Ms. Errico will perform Legrand Affair, a tribute to the work of her mentor, the multiple-Oscar-winner Michel Legrand, who passed away this year, and other favorite composers, including Stephen Sondheim.

The Wall Street Journal has called Ms. Errico "the most spectacularly beautiful" of all interpreters of the acclaimed French composer and songwriter. Melissa first collaborated with Legrand when she earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in his Broadway musical Amour. They then together created the classic album, Legrand Affair, backed by Legrand conducting his own large-scale orchestral arrangements with the Brussels Philharmonic, produced by Phil Ramone. Melissa Errico is best known for her starring roles in Broadway musicals that include, in addition to Amour, Anna Karenina, My Fair Lady, High Society (in San Francisco and on Broadway), Dracula, White Christmas and Les Misérables. According to Ben Brantley of The New York Times, "The sterling-voiced Broadway actress emanates an easy, robust glow of pleasure...it goes without saying that she sings divinely."

Her solo studio CDs include Legrand Affair, What About Today? Melissa Errico Live at 54 Below, Lullabies & Wildflowers, Blue Like That, and the recently released Sondheim Sublime-her celebration of Sondheim's work that began when she played "Dot" in Sunday in the Park with George at The Kennedy Center. Ms. Errico has toured with most of the major symphonies in America and the UK. At the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, she starred in The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and Camelot. She recently finished shooting a role in The Magnificent Meyersons, an Eric Oppenheimer film starring Kate Mulgrew (2019 release). Other feature film appearances include Frequency with Dennis Quaid and Life or Something LIke It with Angelina Jolie, and her numerous TV credits include recurring roles on Billions on Showtime and Cinemax's The Knick.

Ms. Errico's career is characterized by diverse interests in many creative corners of show business. She has had a steady career in television, appeared in feature films, and performed Off Broadway in numerous musicals as well as non-musical roles in plays by Shaw, Wilde, and others. She has also explored music as both a recording
artist and concert singer, releasing several music albums and working with some of the world's best symphonies and jazz and cabaret spaces. More recently, she established herself as a writer, publishing essays in The New York Times and beyond, and has served on The National Endowment for the Arts.
