Shana Farr is set to perform her accalimed show, "Whistling Away the Dark: Through Songs of Julie Andrews" on Wednesday, July 18th at 7:30 p.m. at the legendary Players Club, located at 16 Gramercy Park South. The performance is free and guests are welcome. Julie Andrews' biographer, Robert Windeler, will be joining Farr at this one-time-only performance.

"Whistling Away The Dark," inspired by the rich collection of lyrics and melodies that have become synonymous with Julie Andrews, is an hour of songs that represents not only great American standards by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, the Gershwins, and The Sherman Brothers, but also beautiful, lesser known numbers by Henry Mancini, Arthur Schwartz, and Van Heusen. Ms. Farr brings her own voice and interpretations to these timeless songs, and critics agree, this beautiful songstress has a unique and alluring voice.

For this special FREE performance, biographer Robert Windeler will be joining Shana Farr on stage, along with music director Fred Barton, and cellist Adam Fisher, to elaborate on the life of Julie Andrews which can also be read in his biography “Julie Andrews: A Life On Stage and Screen.”

The line-up includes numbers such as “I Have Confidence”, "Crazy World”, "Once Upon A Long Ago”, "Star!”, “I Could Have Danced All Night” and the title piece, "Whistling Away The Dark.” Fred Barton created a masterpiece of musical arrangements, and Adam Fisher adds an unexpected musical depth with cello.

A gifted songstress and actress whose talents have been praised by music and theatrical critics at the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, among others, Ms. Farr has been invited to sing at Jazz at Lincoln Center this October 17th where she will be honored as part of the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention.

Shana Farr is also busy recording her first album, “Out of The Shadows” with an award-winning team in New York City to be released in September, and her jewelry line “Pure Imagination” will make its first appearance in the September issues of Bridal Guide and Brides Magazine.

A versatile singer/actress, Shana has performed lead roles with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and has been seen at New York City Center with the New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players performing leading roles in “The Yeomen of the Guard” (Elsie Maynard) and the title role in “Princess Ida.” Her Off Broadway credits include “The Merry Widow” (title role), “The Music Man” (Marian Paroo), “Oklahoma!” (Laurey Williams), and “The Pirates of Penzance” (Mabel).
