Our Lady J Returns to The Zipper on 4/7 and 4/18

By:

Our Lady J returns to The Zipper Factory (336 West 37th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues) for two new concerts of all-original music in celebration of the release of her new EP "Our Lady J: Live From The Zipper Factory," which was recorded last October.  Along with favorites including "Picture of a Man" and "Pink Prada Purse," Our Lady J will continue to bring gospel music into the 21st century by debuting a score of fresh tunes with The Pink Champagne Orchestra and The Train To Kill Gospel Choir.  Shows are Monday, April 7 and Friday, April 18 at 9:30 p.m.

Our Lady J (aka Jonnah Speidel) was recently seen performing with and accompanying Justin Bond in Lustre, which she music directed, at PS 122.  Before her solo act invaded New York's underground music scene, she music directed and performed with some of NYC's most colorful talents in hot spots including Alice Tulley Hall, Birdland, The Box, Carnegie Hall, Caroline's on Broadway, CBGB's, Feinstein's at the Regency, Joe's Pub, The Kitchen, Radio City Music Hall and The Town Hall.  As a pianist, she has accompanied the NYC Gay Men's Chorus, American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and the Mark Morris Dance Group, where she was a featured performer in the MMDG Music Ensemble.  A recent essay on her experience as a transgender person can be seen in the April 2008 issue of Out Magazine.  Visit www.ourladyj.com.

The concerts are presented by The Zipper Factory in association with Big Apple Performing Arts.

Tickets to Our Lady J are $20 and $25 (with a copy of "Our Lady J: Live From The Zipper Factory"). Tickets are now available by calling Ovation Tix at 212-352-3101, or online at www.thezipperfactory.com.
