Mark Nadler Brings CRAZY: 1961 to San Francisco's The RRazz Room, Now thru 9/1

The RRazz Room, San Francisco's premier nightclub, presents the return of three time MAC award winning singer and pianist, Mark Nadler, in his critically acclaimed one-man show "Crazy 1961: The Songs and Events of 1961." The show celebrates the extraordinary year that saw the first man orbiting the earth in outer space (not to mention the first monkey!), the first performance of The Beatles, the inauguration of President Kennedy, Barbra Streisand's first TV appearance and Judy Garland's big comeback concert at Carnegie Hall.

The Berlin Wall was built that year, the Freedom Riders rode that year and many famous people were born that year including Barack Obama, Princess Diana and... oh yes! Mark Nadler. This show is a celebration of all of these events and more fleshed out in the glorious catalog of songs written in '61; songs that include "Crazy," "Moon River," "Once In A Lifetime" and, appropriately, "It Was A Very Good Year." In fact there are so many beloved songs from 1961, that the show ends with a show-stopping medley of 50 hits from that auspicious year.

Nadler starred in and co-wrote the off-Broadway Gershwin revue American Rhapsody, which was nominated for a Drama Desk and two Lucille Lortel Awards and received the Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) Award for Outstanding Musical Revue. Additionally, he received the MAC award three years in a row for outstanding Musical Comedy Performer and in 1990 Mark was given the MAC award for his performance of five different interacting characters in his one man Opera in Honky-Tonk. For his show, Tschaikowsky (and Other Russians), Mark was awarded the 2003 Bistro. This show was transformed into a full theatrical event entitled Russian On The Side, for which Mark Nadler received San Francisco's prestigious Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Award for Outstanding Solo Performance. He also won the 1994 Bistro Award for outstanding singer/instrumentalist and the 2000 Bistro Award for Outstanding Revue for directing, conceiving and music directing Hard Candy; the Songs of Carol Hall.

Mark created and co-stars in Something Wonderful: Richard Rodgers In Song which he has been touring with since 2001 and The Night They Invented Champagne: A Toast to Operetta and the Musicals it Inspired. With KT Sullivan he created and performs Make Someone Happy …in the words of Comden and Green, A Fine Romance: the Dorothy Fields Songbook; Everything's Coming Up Roses: The Music of Jule Styne; Sweet and Lowdown: An Evening of Pure Gershwin; A Swell Party: RSVP Cole Porter, Are We A Pair: Songs of Sondheim and Always, The Love Story of Irving Berlin, for which he and Ms. Sullivan received the 2004 Nightlife Award and the 2004 MAC Award, both for Outstanding Revue.

Nadler has performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra and has been a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Oregon Symphony, Ottawa Symphony and others. He has played New York City's Town Hall, Weill Hall, Zankel Hall and Stern Auditorium all at Carnegie Hall, Rose Hall at jazz at Lincoln Center, the four seasons at Sardi's (where a caricature of Mark hangs among the other famous faces), The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, The Cinegrill in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Maxim's and the West Bank Cabaret.
