Back by popular demand, in her fourth Metropolitan Room engagement in a little over a year, Marilyn Maye celebrates her birthday in landmark style with a new show It's My Party… and I'll Sing 'Cause I Want To, which runs from April 8 through April 16.  In seven performances (five of which are late shows to heighten the party atmosphere) the amazing Maye, who turns 80 during the run, has concocted a gift bag of her favorite songs from a who's who of her favorite songwriters.

Since she returned to New York in March 2007 for her first major engagement here in 16 years, Maye has stirred up a groundswell of excitement at The Metropolitan Room.  The popular cabaret and jazz music room, that last week was voted Best of New York by New York Magazine, has presented Maye in three different shows, which bowed in March, September and November of last year.  It's My
Party… and I'll Sing 'Cause I Want To
features the backing of her New York stalwarts, Billy Stritch on piano, Jim Eklof (her long-time drummer) and TomHubbard on bass.

Maye officially crushes 80 with her high-heeled shoes on Thursday April 10. She is not performing at The Metropolitan Room on this night, which will leave her fans to wonder what exactly she will be up to then. Her seven performances, over a two-week span are as follows: Tuesday/Wednesday April 8 & 9 at 7:30pm, Friday April 11 at 10pm, and Sunday through Wednesday April 13, 14, 15, 16, all at 9:30pm. Maye's music charge is $30.
