Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life - the acclaimed musical that premiered in New York last summer after a smash tour throughout Australia - will return to the city with a very special concert version at 54 Below tonight, March 18 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25-$35 in addition to a $25 food and beverage minimum.

A musical "Sex and the City" meets "Desperate Housewives," the show stars Amity Dry (who also wrote music, book and lyrics), in addition to Nikki Aitken, Rachel McCall and Susan Ferguson. It features music and arrangements by Mark Simeon Ferguson and direction by David Lampard. Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life was introduced to U.S. audiences last summer as part of the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival. It will also be featured as a side event at this year's "Commission for the Status of Women" conference at the United Nations on Monday, March 17.

Both entertaining musical comedy and thought-provoking drama, Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life is a refreshingly honest account of the experiences of modern day wives, mothers and women, expressed in a uniquely candid Australian way. Following the lives of four best friends-Jessie (who's desperate to be married), Kate (career-focused and taking the trip of a lifetime), Lily (a working mom of two who seems to have it all) and Bec (a mom of three who's just trying to stay sane) - it's funny, sad, poignant and endearing as it reflects on the joys and frustrations of trying to "do it all."

"Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life is a celebration of women," said Amity Dry. "It's an honest reflection of our strengths and challenges and deals with subjects that aren't typically seen in musical theatre. I have been incredibly humbled by the success of the show to date and the way it's been embraced by Australian audiences. Now to perform it at 54 Below and the United Nations at the time there's an international conference focused on promoting women's empowerment is absolutely thrilling."

AMITY DRY is a well-known Australian writer, performer, recording artist and reality TV star, having starred on Australia's biggest and most successful TV shows "The Block." She is also a top 10 recording artist, with her 2003 self-penned album The Lighthouse achieving Gold Status. Amity wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life and has starred in its multiple seasons in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
