Lynn Henderson Will Perform 3 shows at Don't Tell Mama in September

Singer Lynn Henderson opens T'Ain't Nobody's Bizness If I Do in September with a multi-show engagement at the legendary cabaret, Don't Tell Mama. Show dates are September 8, 13 and 25th and all shows are at 7pm. Lynn has chosen a very fun repertoire that includes music from American and International Songbooks, including Cole Porter, Jerry Herman, Amanda McBroom, Charles Aznavour, Gershwin, and Cohen and DuKore, among others. Special guests, dancer Christine Perone, will join Lynn on Thursday, Sept 8, and tap dancer Aaron Tolson, will join her on Tuesday, Sept 13 and Sunday, Sept 25th. Lynn's musical director and arranger is her longtime collaborator Douglas J. Cohen, with bassist Bob Sabin. Barry Kleinbort directs. There is a $20 cover (MAC members $15.00) and 2-drink minimum per person. Don't Tell Mama is a CASH ONLY room at 343 West 46th Street, NYC. Lynn performed her successful debut show, "TRY TO REMEMBER, " at the Metropolitan Room in 2012. She followed that with "I TRAVEL ALONE" which chronicled a journey of self discovery as Lynn traveled on bicycle, on foot and horseback, wandering through Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Laos, Cambodia, India and South Africa. She released her debut CD, Singer at Work (available on CD Baby) in 2012, followed by If We Only Have Love (available on iTunes) in 2014. Cabaret superstar, Marilyn Maye said, "Her great love for the art of singing comes through beautifully. She delivers the lyric with understanding, honesty and caring."

Lynn began her singing career in college as a vocalist traveling with several big bands. She then created and performed five one-woman shows at Westport, CT's Levitt Pavilion during ten years of performing in restaurants and saloons in Fairfield County. She has performed in Litchfield County to packed houses at The Merryall Center for the Arts, Skitch and Ruth Henderson's Hunt Hill Farm, The Richter Association for the Arts and in many benefits and has played with such notables as Skitch Henderson, founder of the NY Pops; conductor and pianist Rob Fisher; pianist John diMartino; and percussionist, Sherrie Maricle. Lynn recently made a full time move into Manhattan.

Pianist, Composer and Arranger, Douglas J. Cohen, was the first recipient of the Noël Coward Prize, and is a recipient of the Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting and two Richard Rodgers Awards. He was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics for Children's Letters to God... He received a Jonathan Larson Grant for his music to Barnstormer.

Mr. Sabin is a bassist, composer, and educator specializing in jazz and contemporary improvised music. He was awarded Second Place in the 2001 and 2003 International Society of Bassists' Jazz Competition, and has appeared with Chico O'Farrill, Billy Taylor, Diana Krall, and Ernie Watts. He is on the music faculty of Hunter College High School and New York University, and a New York Pops Teaching Artist.
