Linda Glick to Debut TEACH ME TONIGHT at Pangea This Fall

Singer Linda Glick has been described as "full of grace and dignity, leavened by a touch of continental cynicism" (Backstage, Eric Haagensen). She will unveil her newest cabaret show, "Teach Me Tonight," from October 18 to November 10 at Pangea Restaurant & Supper Club, 178 Second Ave. (betw. 11th & 12th Streets).

The evening features an eclectic program combining new works with classics and signature songs by Charles Aznavour, Alberto Manzanero and others. Musical director is Ian Herman.

"Teach Me Tonight" addresses the theme that we are both teacher and student in the theater of life. The question remains: who is the teacher and who is the student? Ms. Glick, a sassy and seasoned redhead, takes her audience on a joyous musical and emotional adventure that is spiced with humor, history and personal anecdotes, drawing from her past experience as a NYC junior high school teacher of French and Spanish. The song list includes original material co-written by Glick and her longtime Musical Director Ian Herman, signature French and Spanish selections by Charles Aznavour and Alberto Manzanero, contemporary songs by Randy Newman, Janis Ian, Billy Joel and others, and iconic classics by Noel Coward and Cole Porter.

Linda Glick is a NYC born and bred actress/singer who works in theater, film and TV. Her career began in cabaret rooms around NYC: Les Mouches, The Duplex, Triad, Reno Sweeney's, Judy's and many others, where she built a loyal following that was strengthened by her palpable appeal to gay audiences, who reveled in her humor and poignancy. Her multi-faceted career has taken her around the world with one-woman shows and concerts. An eleventh-hour booking at La Chansonette, where she performed all foreign language material, jump-started her career when she was discovered and signed with two European promoters who placed her in management. That led to performances at the Rainbow Grill, where she opened for Peter Gordino, "The Australian Rhinestone Cowboy." Thereafter, her venues alternated between gay cabarets and the conventional circuit, including top flight resorts, Atlantic City and luxury liners. In Washington, she opened for Peter Allen at the Waaay Off Broadway and headlined at the Gay Pride Day celebrations.

Recently, she has played major rooms including Feinstein's/54 Below. She starred as Mrs. Brice in two regional productions of "Funny Girl" and is a founding member of the Re-Group Theater Company (www.regrouptheatre.org). On screen, in addition to leading roles in several shorts and independent films, she appeared as the Park Avenue Lady in "W.E.," co-written and directed by Madonna. She played Nancy Pelosi in HBO's "Too Big to Fail," directed by Curtis Hansen (LA Confidential). Most recently, she appeared in "The Incredible Jessica James," an independent feature film directed by James Strouse. Her website is www.lindaglick.com.

Ian Herman (Musical Director) studied classical piano and was a guest soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13. After attending the Manhattan School of Music, he began working with top performers in NYC nightclubs and around the country. In 1999, he received the Backstage Bistro Award for best Musical Director. He was a pianist/vocal coach for the Broadway revival of "Grease." His other Broadway credits include "Jelly's Last Jam," "The Who's Tommy," "Song and Dance," "Swing" and "Laughing Room Only." He was conductor for "The Toxic Avenger." He performed a solo concert of his original music at the Zipper Factory Theatre and recently performed a concert with guitarist Sean Harkness of all original music to celebrate their new CD, "DUET."

The performance schedule is three Wednesdays and a Friday: the Wednesdays are October 18 and 25 and November 1 and the Friday is November 10. All shows are are 7:30 PM.
