LOVERS & MONSTERS to Debut at The Met Room Before 2016 Historic Venue Tour
A new cabaret show called LOVERS & MONSTERS will debut at The Metropolitan Room on April 9 at 4pm before it embarks on 2016 tour of historical venues.
LOVERS & MONSTERS follows the story of two women brought together after an unintentional audition for the circus. Featuring raw emotional storytelling and the stunning vocals of Abbie Stands and Kristyn Murphy, the show sets itself apart from a traditional cabaret with video projection, utilizing various videos to progress a distinct storyline with a movie screen backdrop. LOVERS & MONSTERS provides a magical and gripping experience rich in story of love, life, and self- discovery. Joining the LOVERS & MONSTERS show is pianist and music director Colin Graebert.
"Within each person lies both a lover and a monster," Stands explains. "The colorful moments of romance, the childish ways we hold to, and the exotic people we encounter help shape the songs and stories in the narrative of these two women as they explore their own 'LOVERS & MONSTERS.'"
LOVERS & MONSTERS is non-profit fine arts project produced by AK Touring, a new company that focuses on bringing live entertainment and revenue to historic venues, in order to help keep them maintained, and to help in the restoration process.
"We are thrilled to be performing in many historic opera houses and theatres during our 2016 tour," Murphy says. "So often these places are overlooked, but they have so much to offer their communities. We are striving to give people a reason to come visit and spend time in these amazing venues."
