On Wednesday, December 16th, at 9:30, local singer/songwriter Kate Chaston will perform at NY's Metropolitan Room, to celebrate the release of her IndieGoGo-funded EP. The band: a world-class group of musicians, featuring Danton Boller on bass, Ben Stivers on piano, Al Street on guitar, and Brian Wolfe on drums. The vibe: Celebratory and intimate! Kate's sultry stylings make for an engaging evening of storytelling through song, highlighting the tunes on the EP, new originals, and jazz standards. Kate's EP, produced by Scott Sharrard (Gregg Allman, Levon Helm) and Charles Martinez (Donald Fagen, Steely Dan), was fan-funded through a crowd-sourcing campaign. It can be found on iTunes, CDBaby, Spotify, Amazon and more. Upon graduating cum laude as a Trustee Scholar at Boston University College of Arts, the budding storyteller moved to New York City to study acting. Kate soon began performing at the Century Center, La Mama, National Black Theatre of Harlem, Don't Tell Mama, and many other venues. This chanteuse's theatrical background enables her to engagingly create a heightened reality in her songs, while her years of living in the city bring a deeper truth to her mysterious lyrics.
