Jerome Elliott Debuts SWEET NERD OF YOUTH in Palm Springs, 5/27
Local actor and singer Jerome Elliott will debut his latest cabaret one man show - Sweet Nerd Of Youth, his sixth show in the last four years, on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert as part of the Sundays In Summer Series presented by Les Michaels' Life Is A Cabaret.
It was only one year ago that Jerome introduced his last show there - the critically acclaimed, Crawling Back To Broadway, which he took to New York, Seattle and Los Angeles. Jerome, who is a four-time Desert Theater League nominee, came up with Sweet Nerd Of Youth in March during his birthday weekend performing in Seattle. As the self-confessed 'nerd' reminisced about his childhood growing up on the East Coast he began thinking of songs that expressed how he experienced his friends, family, and inner nerd during those formative years. With an eclectic mix of composers and lyricists including Burt Bacharach, Hal David, Stephen Sondheim, Duke Ellington, William Finn, Jule Styne, and Comden and Green, it's a fun journey that many of the audience are sure to relate to on multiple levels. Joining Jerome will be his longtime music director Charlie Creasy, whose many credits include a stint as music director for the legendary chanteuse Hildegarde as well as numerous productions in the desert.
