GUTLESS & GRATEFUL: A MUSICAL FEAST Plays the Triad, 10/19, 21 & 26

By:

Join Amy Oestreicher for an emotional storytelling experience and captivating cabaret act entitled, "Gutless & Grateful: a musical feast". The show will be featured over two weekends in October at the Triad Theater in New York.

Amy is only 25 years old, but has quite a story to tell... "I never had any health problems – theatre was my entire universe and I trained and performed professionally all of my life. Then in April of my high school senior year, I abruptly developed a blood clot, my stomach exploded (it actually hit the ceiling of the OR), and after both my lungs collapsed, I almost died. Months later, I woke up from a coma covered in tubes, bags, and drains, and was told that I didn?t have a stomach, I could not eat or drink, and no one could tell me when or if I would ever be able to again. It took 24 surgeries and over three years, but I eventually was miraculously reconstructed and with the intestines I had left, given a system that digests food."

Such a compelling story of hope and determination, CBS produced three stories on Amy several years ago and Channel 12 of Connecticut did a short documentary on her, which was nominated for an Emmy. More recently, Amy was on the TODAY show with Kathie Lee and Hoda for their "Everyone Has A Story" segment. Kathie Lee, along with David Friedman, the acclaimed composer, wrote a song for her – Still Alive –, which now closes out her act.

Despite bags leaking, machines beeping, and a "planned" life on hold, Amy was never willing to be the "patient" or a "victim". Rather than mourn her hunger, this quirky young woman started a chocolate business, a food blog, learned karate, starred in musicals, exhibited three art shows and taught nursery school. This cabaret act, is a dream come true for Amy - a way to share her story, gratitude, and strength with the world she has conquerEd Gracefully despite her struggles. Amy wrote and co-directed the show along with Jerold Goldstein; the show's lead pianist and David Brunetti, the shows musical director.

Gutless & Grateful: a musical feast" will be performed at the Triad Theater on 158 West 72nd Street in NYC tonight, October 19th and 26th at 7pm and October 21st at 3pm. For ticket information visit http://www.brownpapertickets.com/e/261975.
