Developed over the last year with Music Director and 2015-2016 Dramatists Guild Fellow Brandon James Gwinn, the show focuses on the detective work of one woman's determination to verify the believed genetic history of her family. Featuring the music of Bonnie Raitt, Rhianna, AC/DC, Paloma Faith, beloved show tunes and standards.
From The Mixed Up Files Of My Background Check will be directed by Nightlife Award, Bistro Award and three-time MAC Award winner Brandon Cutrell. Brandon was the original host of the MAC Award nominated show, Mostly Sondheim. From 2006 to 2010 Brandon hosted The After Party on 42nd Street in Times Square. Brandon is the emcee of Brandon Cutrell & Cohorts, Stonewall Sensation at the Stonewall Inn and Brandon Cutrell's Broadway at the Beach, a Fire Island show that is now in its eleventh season.
Brandon James Gwinn is the composer of Underwear A Space Musical which premiered in the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival and was an invited production at the 2012 American College Theatre Festival. A singer-songwriter and music director, he has arranged and played shows in LA, San Francisco, Miami, and in New York at Feinstein's, Birdland, Joe's Pub, and 54 Below.
Theresa Rose is an actress/singer, who has studied with Matt Hoverman and has developed a one woman show, Runaway, under his Go-Solo workshop. Her new script The Boat is under development and excerpts of it have been read at Naked Angels and EST First Brew. She is a proud member of the Core Artist Ensemble.
This cabaret performance will be tonight, November 12th at 7pm at the Off-Broadway venue, the DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE, 61 Christopher St, cross street 7th Ave in New York City.
