Elaine Stritch Ends Run at Cafe Carlyle, 4/5
Elaine Stritch will end her limited engagement of "At Home At The Carlyle: Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim. . . One Song At A Tim," on April 5th.
Erich Steinbock, Managing Director of The Carlyle Hotel, commented, "There has never been a greater demand at The Café Carlyle than for Ms. Stritch's latest show. We have turned dozens of patrons away each night, and felt that it would be a shame not to make this extraordinary ‘happening' available to as many fans as possible."
The iconic musical theater careers of Ms. Stritch and Stephen Sondheim (who himself turns 80 on March 22) are inextricably linked, and this new show is the culmination of a personal and professional relationship that has spanned the better part of four decades. In "At Home At The Carlyle: Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim. . . One Song At A Time," Ms. Stritch will perform the music of Mr. Sondheim, orchestrated by Tony, Oscar, Grammy and Emmy Award-winner Jonathan Tunick.
