ELISE: In Concert Set for Don't Tell Mama, 2/28
ELISE: In Concert will be presented Feb. 28th as part of The Rehearsal Room series at Don't Tell Mama. Performers at the 10 PM concert include Alexandra Silber (Grammy Nominee), Alexis Michelle (Winner of So You Think You Can Drag), Ian Fairlee, Hillary Fisher, Travis Kent, Ragan Pharris, Lexi Rabadi, Josephine Spada and Sam Swenson; with musical direction by Curtis Reynolds.
ELISE is a folk-western musical that tells the story of a fifteen year-old girl, Elise, who has been brought up in a Brothel in 1910 Stockton, California. When her mother mysteriously dies Vera, the Madame of the Brothel, takes the young girl under her wing. Elise is thrown into adulthood where she finds love, sex, and the lust of revenge for the first time. A workshop of the musical was presented to high acclaim earlier this year at Pace University as part of their Pace New Musicals series.
Jamen Nanthakumar and Liana Wright-Mark have had their work presented all around NYC at venues such as New York University, 54 Below, and Urban Stages. Bringing together a folk and blues inspired sound, the team's work is equally swirling and expressive as it is intense. Elise was conceived while Nanthakumar and Wright-Mark studied in Ryan Scott Oliver's Musical Theatre Writing Company.
THE REHEARSAL ROOM is a recurring concert series that features up and coming writers and composers. Each show will present innovative work, NYC premiers and electric performances. THE REHEARSAL ROOM is produced by Ryan Scott Oliver and Nessie Nankivell, and is run in conjunction with Oliver and Lindsay Mendez's ACTOR THERAPY.
