Composer/Lyricist Amy Engelhardt Brings Her OWN DEVICES Back to Don't Tell Mama, 10/9
MAC and ASCAP Award-winning composer/lyricist Amy Engelhardt returns to Don't Tell Mama for a second edition of her acclaimed solo show, MY OWN DEVICES on October 9. Since her last appearance, her score for the new Off- Broadway rock musical comedy BASTARD JONES at the cell theatre received stellar reviews.
MY OWN DEVICES II showcases Engelhardt's wide range of original material, from the ridiculous to the sublime, some from her solo release, NOT GONNA BE PRETTY and its sequel. MY OWN DEVICES. A former bridge and tunnel kid, she was 25 % of Grammy- nominated quartet of nutjobs THE BOBS for 14 years, appearing on 4 CDs and 2 DVDs with the band, writing, arranging and touring relentlessly. Her brainchild, Rhapsody in Bob, Gershwin's masterpiece reimagined for piano ( keyboard hurricane Bob Malone of the John Fogerty Band) and vocal orchestra ( The Bobs) premiered at Wolf Trap.
BASTARD JONES was a Finalist for the Richard Rodgers Award ; a second Off- Broadway run is in the works. TRIPTYCH, Engelhardt's trio of 10- minute musicals, premieres at the NY Museum of Transit October 17. She is also the Artistic Producer/ Co-Creator of TUNE IN TIME, New York's Musical Theatre Game Show.
As a concert and session singer, she's sung everything from Bach to rock, everywhere from Lincoln Center ( American Songbook ) to the Sony Soundstage ( with Barbra Streisand ) to jazz and vocal festivals in the US and Europe.
