Comics Essman and Garlin to appear at Carolines

Comics Susis Essman and Jeff Garlin will be playing a limited engagement at Caroline's on Broadway starting April 24th.

Susie Essman plays the venomous Susie Greene in the critically-acclaimed HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Susie (Greene, not Essman) is the no-nonsense wife of Larry David's rotund, cheerful agent Jeff Greene (Jeff Garlin). Mrs. Greene will not suffer a fool or overlook the slightest slight; she invariably sees through every one of Larry and Jeff's lies and mischievous ploys and rips into them. These hilarious bouts of withering sarcasm and uninhibited insults have become her character's trademark and helped her to become one of the most popular players on the show. 


The Manhattan-based Essman is a veteran of the world of standup comedy, logging thousands of performances on the Gotham comedy circuit. She has appeared in her own half-hour HBO comedy special, hosted the American Comedy Awards, and performed on Comedy Central's "The Friar's Roast of Jerry Stiller", "Politically Incorrect" and "The Tonight Show". Her other television credits include appearances on "Law and Order', "The King Of Queens", and "Baby Boom." Essman has appeared in the films "Keeping The Faith", "The Siege", "Volcano" and "Punchline." 

Her talent and audacity made her a natural choice to perform off-Broadway in the play "The Vagina Monologues." Susie was the voice of Helen Higgins in the puppet animation/crank call series "Crank Yankers" on Comedy Central; she also appeared in the seen in the movie "The Man". " 

Comedian Jeff Garlin has a style of comedy that has much in common with the comedians of the '60s and early-'70s (among them, Shelley Berman, Mort Sahl, Woody Allen, and Richard Pryor). Garlin tells stories, exploring his personal foibles and exposing his innermost secrets for all to hear. 

On television, Garlin co-stars and executive produces the critically-acclaimed HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm." The show stars the creator of "Seinfeld", Larry David, and recently won the 2001 AFI Comedy Series of the Year Award. Jeff spent three seasons on NBC's "Mad About You" in the role of "Marvin." Jeff has had his own HBO half-hour special. As a director he has directed both Jon Stewart ("Unleavened") and Denis Leary ("Lock-n-Load") in their HBO specials. Jeff has also directed "Curb Your Enthusiasm." 

Jeff appears in the Steven Soderbergh film "Full Frontal" which stars Julia Roberts and David Duchovny, and "Daddy Day Care" with Eddie Murphy. Jeff has a variety of TV and film appearances to his credit as an actor and a stand-up, including "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me", "Bounce", "Everybody Loves Raymond", "The Late Show with David Letterman", "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
