"Something New" -- musical theatre writer Joel B. New's podcast about multifaceted artists -- will present and record New's song cycle, STANDALONE, on Sunday, June 29th in New York. The recording will be part of a two-episode special for the podcast starting on Monday, July 7th.

Directed by Billy Bustamante (Here Lies Love), the cast features Jenny Neale (New's RSVP), Hansel Tan (Miss Saigon at North Shore), and Mariand Torres (Natasha, Pierre...). Sam Shull, Daniel Kim, and Jessica Winderweedle make up the band.

STANDALONE is a theatrical song cycle about isolation, be it in the form of solitude, loneliness, or often one masquerading as the other. Individually, the songs in STANDALONE are firmly rooted in isolation, but collectively, they challenge their audience to be open to and reconnect with the world around them. Songs include "An Apartment Song," "I Got Nothing," "Beautiful, Sleeping Giant," and "Better than Fine."
