This July, Joe's Pub at The Public presents four nights with the legendary cabaret artist Barb Jungr, performing her hit show Hard Rain: the Songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Hard Rain is also Jungr's latest award-winning album, released March 2014 to rave reviews. Performances are tonight, July 9, and July 10, 16 & 17 at 7:00PM. Tickets are ($25) and available online, via phone (212.967.7555) or in person at The Public's Box Office (425 Lafayette, NYC).

For years, the British chanteuse has been wowing critics and audiences around the world with her insightful, intelligent interpretations of well-loved songs, particularly those of Bob Dylan, Jacques Brel and, now, Leonard Cohen, combined with her powerful and witty performance style. This Hard Rain set is Jungr's hardest hitting in a long time. She tackles two music icons, featuring their political and philosophical songs in her contemporary arrangements. Jungr is "possibly our greatest interpreter of Dylan's songs," said fellow legend singer-songwriter Billy Bragg, who introduced her on her BBC special at the Barbican.

Jungr debuted Hard Rain, both the album and show, in the US in 2014, and has since toured nationally in support of it and her many other projects. She returns to New York to close the loop on a phenomenal run. In July, she will return to the studio for her eighth recording at Linn Records in New York in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning pianist Laurence Hobgood.

Barb Jungr is renowned for her unique vocal style, interpretation of song and radical approach to arrangements. Her acclaimed releases on Linn Records and Naim Label and "revelatory" live performances have brought her to audiences all around the world. In 2015, she won the Broadway World Best CD award for Hard Rain - The Songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

Jungr has toured the USA with seasons in Indianapolis and New York, performed in Toronto, Canada, toured Australia headlining at the Adelaide Cabaret festival and appearing in the Melbourne Recital Hall's celebration of the American Songbook series, appeared in the O'Neill Gala performance and Cabaret Festival in Connecticut, alongside performances in England, Scotland and Wales. Jungr performed a sellout 2 week run of Hard Rain at 59E59 Theater in New York in 2014.

Jungr has worked with the finest artists in the UK (including composer Mark Anthony Turnage), toured the world with the British Council in the 1990s (Malawi, Cameroon, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Cote D'Ivoire, Sudan), appeared in Australia (2006, 2007 and a sellout tour in 2010), toured Norway and Holland and performs regularly in New York and across the United States (several seasons at The Cafe Carlyle and Metropolitan Room and Joe's Pub, New York, Catalina's in LA, Rrazz Room in San Francisco, and in Indianapolis and for Austin Cabaret).

In just the last year, Jungr has been a featured guest on BBC radio's Saturday Live, Start the Week, Midweek and A Good Read, and she appeared in the BBC4 TV's documentary 'The Lives and Pain of the Jazz Divas.'
