Andrew Barret Cox Presents CLUBLAND At 54 Below

Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, located at 254 West 54th Street, presents Andrew Barret Cox's: CLUBLAND in Concert on March 30th, 2018 at 9:30 PM.

CLUBLAND, the pop musical sensation, which originally premiered at The American Repertory Theatre's Club Oberon in 2013, is finally making its long-awaited New York City concert debut for one night only at Feinstein's/ 54 Below.

CLUBLAND features an impressive roster of Broadway veterans including Ryan Vona (Cirque du Soleil PARAMOUR), Natalie Weiss (Everyday Rapture, The Greatest Showman), Sheri Sanders (Rock the Audition, Fame, Urinetown), Kelly McIntyre (A Night With Janis Joplin), JanSport/Charlie Mantione (NBC's The Voice), Merrill Peiffer (Mamma Mia) and more. This high octane pop score will be performed with a live band for the FIRST TIME, adding a new rock element into the mix.

CLUBLAND's origins can be traced back to The American Repertory Theatre's Club Oberon based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was there, in 2013, that Andrew Barret Cox's vision, inspired by the escapades of the 80's and 90's club kids came to life. "Up until 2013, I had never seen the inside of a nightclub," says Cox. That all changed one evening when Cox came across a copy of "Disco Bloodbath", the 1999 memoir by celebutante James St. James. After devouring the novel in one sitting, Cox found himself fascinated by the colorful subculture. Soon after, Cox wrote CLUBLAND- his first immersive pop musical. The original production of CLUBLAND was loosely based on the infamous stories of James St. James, nightlife maven (and convicted murderer) Michael Alig and his band of club kids.

After the debut of CLUBLAND, Cox found himself dropped into a world he had only read about books. He, along with his friend and collaborators were frequently spotted on the New York, Los Angeles and Boston nightlife circuits. Known for their imaginative and creative costumes, high-energy, choreographed performances and outlandish antics, Cox and his cohorts established themselves as a kind of neu-club kids. They often performed for and with magnanimous nightlife personalities such as Amanda Lepore and Susanne Bartsch, among others. "I originally started going out as a form of research but then I ended up spending 4 years working in nightlife," says Cox, adding, "... after experiencing and learning so much I'm glad I can reflect back on those times with this special concert performance."

Loaded with his real life experiences, Cox is ready to present CLUBLAND to New York audiences for the first time. With fresh real life perspective and a live backing band, this version of CLUBLAND presents the music in a concert setting that is poignant, engaging and above all else, fun. In addition to pieces from CLUBLAND, additional works by Cox will be performed including never-before-heard compositions from upcoming musicals plus a song from HEXED, Cox's last program to debut at 54 Below.

Andrew Barret Cox's: CLUBLAND plays Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on March 30th, 2018. There is a $25-35 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum.
