Broadway and West End star Amra-Faye Wright, currently headlining as Velma Kelly in the Broadway production of the Tony-Award winning musical Chicago, will debut her solo revue "Sittin' on Top of the World" at Feinstein's at Loews Regency Hotel on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 8:30 p.m.

Featuring musical direction and arrangements by Mark Hummel, "Sittin' on Top of the World" is a captivating and a magical evening which traces, with engaging wit and sophisticated glamour, Amra-Faye Wright's unlikely journey from South African farm girl to an award-winning actress, singer and Broadway leading lady. The performance warmly illustrates Amra-Faye's amazing passion for life and tenacious insistence on making her home anywhere in the world that life takes her.

"Sittin' on Top of the World" is composed of stylish interpretations from The Great American Songbook, popular show-tunes, international hits and traditional songs from her native South Africa.

For the past twenty years, Amra-Faye Wright has entertained audiences around the globe. Her performances have won her three Vita Awards, the South African equivalent to the American Tony Award.

Wright's career grew unconventionally from The Farmlands of her native South Africa to performing worldwide as merry murderess Velma Kelly in the smash hit Chicago, a role she has played to great acclaim since 2001, and which for the past five years has taken her back and forth from Broadway to London's West End, and most recently to Japan, where last summer she was the first American actress to perform the role in Japanese.

Her other theatrical credits include Footloose (Vi Moore), Grease, (Sandy) A Chorus Line (Sheila), Nunsense (Mother Superior), Peter Pan (Mrs. Darling), Viva Sun City (lead performer) Elvis Las Vegas (lead performer). Amra-Faye spent most of her early career writing and performing her award-winning one-woman shows, including It's Not Where I Start (Vita Award), Rouge Pulp (Vita Award) and Drinks on Me.

She continues to make star appearances around the globe, including the South African VIP Gala, the Sydney Olympics, the World-Cup Rugby Gala and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as continuing international engagements in Cairo, Monte Carlo, London and Paris.

Amra-Faye is proud to be a part of Broadway in South Africa, a performance outreach organization impacting on the healthy development of youth in South Africa.
