Questionable life advice, musical theatre tunes, a few boxes of wine and approximately seven to ten belly laughs await audiences at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre on January 6th, when actress and blogger Bligh Voth hosts a launch party and live taping of her new podcast, AVOCADOS ARE FOR RICH PEOPLE.

Bligh Voth is the author of the popular blog 'AVOCADOS ARE FOR RICH PEOPLE' and the star of a new podcast of the same name. The blog was born out of a time in 2012 filled with unnecessary, dramatic victimization and a penchant for boxed wine. Since then, the blog became a thing that people were reading...seriously. Someone in Morocco is reading it. Luxury. Her blog-baby is now being turned into a podcast and so she thought, "Why not do a live show recording? Like 'Prairie Home Companion' but with more swearing, and musical numbers from a lot of my dearest, most talented theatre singer/actor friends who love me, even though I'm perpetually running late to the plans we make?" So, we are doing a live-show. With Broadway performers. And box wine. Because it's important to grow, but keep the things you love most about yourself the same.

Voth says, "The idea for the live taping of the podcast is loosely based around my obsession with Judy Garland Christmas/TV Specials, Prairie Home Companion, people talking to other people honestly without bulls**t, close mountain harmonies, and every single one of my talented friends who use their love of performing to parlay that into branding themselves and their respective businesses."

The cabaret event is based on a piece Voth wrote called "The Five People You See On Social Media" and features Alex Matteo (Broadway's Annie; National tours of Dirty Dancing, The Addams Family, Anything Goes), Liam Forde (Bistro Award Winning Cabaret Artist), Rachel Shur (Jersey Boys), Chris Lash (Conductor for Jersey Boys in Las Vegas), Mike Millan (Off-Broadway's Piece of My Heart, National Tour of Sister Act), and Vishal Vaidya (Marcia Milgrom Dodge's new production of The Secret Garden).

The event, and the podcast, are produced by Spinach Fire Productions - Isaac Elkiss and Matthew Kacergis.
