According to singer/actor Adam B. Shapiro, breakups can be one of the most devastatingly painful things in the world . . . but not if you know how to do them right.

So in 2012, with the guidance of Director Peter Napolitano and Musical Director Barry Levitt, Shapiro set out to create a cabaret musical comedy romp at The Duplex in New York's West Village that would provide a seminar on the right and wrong ways to break up with someone, whether you're the "Dumper" or the "Dumpee." Shapiro's Guide to the Perfect Breakup would put him on the map as a young rising cabaret star and win him a 2013 MAC Award for "Best Musical Comedy Show" (it also earned Levitt a MAC Award for "Best Musical Director" and Napolitano a MAC Nomination for "Best Director").

Five years later, Shapiro will reprise his hilarious and musically compelling show-with songs written by composers as diverse as Cole Porter and Weird Al Yankovic--in the BroadwayWorld Award-Nominated series NEW YORK CABARET'S GREATEST HITS at the Metropolitan Room on March 15 at 7 pm. The series is produced and hosted by Stephen Hanks (with Associate Producer Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD). Reservations are $20 (with a $25 food/drink minimum) and can be made at www.metropolitanroom.com.

"When I launched the show in 2012, I had no idea if people would like it or not," Shapiro says. "But Peter and Barry helped me to shape it into a fully realized concept. I loved doing it and always hoped to bring it back. So performing it in Stephen Hanks' Greatest Hits series is such an honor. I can't wait to re-open the Guide!"

Here's what critics said after scanning Adam B. Shapiro's Guide to the Perfect Breakup:

" . . . A textbook on how to create the almost perfect musical comedy cabaret show . . . Showcases the talents of a cuddly teddy bear of a performer, who possesses the kind of solid singing, acting, and comedic chops that make him a young, rising cabaret star." --BroadwayWorld.com

"Adam Shapiro knows how to do musical comedy. He IS funny . . . and a very good actor." --BistroAwards.com

As an Actor, Adam B. Shapiro has performed around the world in both English and Yiddish. Off Broadway credits: The Golden Bride, Death of a Salesman, The Megille of Itzik Manger, and the title role in Gimpel the Fool. Film/TV: Master of None, The Mysteries of Laura, 30 Rock, Adam Sandler's The Cobbler, and the role of Bella in HBO Films' Emmy-winning film The Normal Heart. As a cabaret artist, Adam has done three other solo shows in New York, including It Starts When We're Kids, No Chestnuts, and Nothing Normal (MAC Award nomination, Male Vocalist). www.adamshapiro.net
