Will Smith to Star in I AM LEGEND Sequel

As first reported on Deadline.com, Will Smith has signed on to star in a second installment of the Warner Bros. 2007 hit film I AM LEGEND.

According to the report, Warner Bros. has sealed a deal with Akiva Goldsman, Overbrook Entertainment to reprise the hit movie starring Smith in the role of scientist Robert Neville, described as "the last man on earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population." The film grossed $584 million worldwide in theaters.

Arash Amel will pen the script for the upcoming film. No word yet as to whether 'Legend's director Francis Lawrence will return to helm this latest endeavor.
