Tony Goldwyn Joins Shonda Rhimes' Pilot 'Damage Control'

Tony Goldwyn has joined the cast Shonda Rhimes' ABC pilot, "Damage Control," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The show is based on the life of PR expert Judy Smith and centers on a crisis management professional (played by Kerry Washington) and her dysfunctional staff.

Goldwyn, also a film and television director and producer, will play President FitzGerald Grant.

As an actor, Goldwyn has appeared in "The Mechanic," "The Last House on the Left" and "The Last Samurai." TV appearances include "The Good Wife" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." Most recently, Goldwyn directed Hilary Swank in "Conviction" and has directed episodes of "Dexter" and "Grey's Anatomy."

Goldwyn's Broadway credits include the 2010 revival of PROMISES, PROMISES and HOLIDAY. Goldwyn particpiated in the 1994 LADY IN THE DARK Encores! Concert.

Washington starred on Broadway last season in David Mamet's RACE, and recent films include Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls." 

Guillermo Diaz, Columbus Short, Henry Ian Cusick and Katie Lowes also star in the show.

Paul McGuigan is set to direct the ABC Studios pilot. Rhimes and Betsy Beers will serve as executive producers with Smith as co-executive producer.
