Barry Manilow's unforgettable hit song is brought to life onstage in this entertaining nightclub spectacle. "Her name was Lola. She was a showgirl...." So begins this tale of romance and stardom that has captivated audiences across the globe. With sensational originality, Barry Manilow's Copacabana is a show that will leave you breathless.

The story starts with Stephen, a present-day, aspiring songwriter, who is in the midst of writing a tune that tells the story of Lola: fresh off the train from Tulsa, she arrives in New York with showbiz aspirations. Tony is a bartender/composer who falls in love with her and helps her become a Copa girl. Lola, of course, attracts the amorous attentions of Rico..."he wore a diamond". When Rico goes a bit too far by Lola taking her to his rival nightclub in Havana, Tony and the whole Copacabana crew set off to rescue Lola and as they say "Hilarity ensues".

Audiences will delight in Copacabana's splashy production numbers and the slew of brand new Barry Manilow songs. A return to traditional American musical theatre flair, the large cast size boasts numerous chances for performers to shine, while the title alone will incite the interest of both subscribers and newcomers to the theatre.

The Round Barn Theatre production is directed by Artistic Director Jerry O'Boyle. Melanie Greyson has choreographed the show. Austin Schoenfelder is the Production Stage Manager and will be assisted by Jackie Robinson, who is also in charge of sound. Karen J. Payton designed the costumes for the show, and Richard Pletcher is the Executive Producer who has also provided the Set Design. Paul Rigano is the Music Director and takes on the dual role of Stephen/Tony, the representation of a composer much like Mr. Manilow himself.

The cast includes many familiar faces to the Round Barn Theatre. Direct from the ensemble in Mamma Mia! Tess Colby plays our heroine Samantha/Lola. Rico Castelli is portrayed by Round Barn favorite and Managing Artistic Director, Ryan Schisler. The comic duo of Gladys and Sam are played by Emily Whitley and Dion Stover. The large ensemble completes the cast list of over 30 characters.

Copacabana opens on Tuesday, July 24, and continues through Sunday, August 26 with 2 p.m. matinees and 8 p.m. evening performances. Copacabana will be translated by American Sign Language interpreters for the deaf on Saturday, August 25 at 8 p.m. Assisted listening devices are available upon request at all performances.
