The Coronas Capture Best Irish Pop/Rock Band Award at 1st Irish Post Music Awards Ahead of North American Tour

The Coronas, the multi-platinum-selling band from Dublin, were honored with Best Irish Pop/Rock Act at the inaugural Irish Post Music Awards presentation last week, which was televised live. In conjunction with IMRO, the Irish performing rights organization, the Awards recognized the best of Ireland's seasoned and emerging artists in various categories.

One of Ireland's best loved and hardest working bands, The Coronas, were cited for their body of work, including TRUST THE WIRE, their fifth album, which became their first-ever #1 when it topped the Irish music charts in its first week of release last June. The band's frontman Danny O'Reilly was on hand to accept the award. The Irish Post commented: "The Coronas have been one of the brightest lights in Irish music over the past decade, and their award is richly deserved."

The band is planning the roll out REPRISE, a five-song EP of new material, prior to their return to NORTH AMERICA this summer. REPRISE will be available via digital outlets in July.

The Coronas will return to NORTH AMERICA for their biggest series of shows ever, beginning with their debut appearances at the eclectic Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago's Grant Park on Sunday, August 5 as well as three nights at the annual Milwaukee Irish Fest, August 17, 18and 19. The major portion of tour begins in Calgary, Alberta on September 25 and continues for more than a month of shows in cities all over the United States and Canada. Highlighting those dates will be performances at the AUSTIN CITY LIMITS Festival in Austin on consecutive weekends and New Orleans' Voodoo Music and Arts Experience during the last weekend of October.

The Coronas--Danny O'Reilly (vocals, guitar), Graham Knox (bass), Conor Egan (drums) and Dave McPhillips (guitar)-have been together for nearly a dozen years and have five critically-acclaimed albums to their credit-four of them double platinum in Ireland and TRUST THE WIRE on its way there. The Sunday Times in Ireland has referred to them as "a cleverer Coldplay."

Before heading back to America, they will play shows in the UK and an array of summer festivals around Ireland as well as headlining Ireland's largest indoor concert venue-the 3Arena-on July 21. What is Danny O'Reilly looking forward to during the upcoming tour? "Heading back and seeing cities that we've started to get a feel for, for one, " he says. "It'll be our third trip to NORTH AMERICA in the last year, and we've already found some cool coffee shops, bars and places that we'd love to see again."
